The Sacredness and Legend of the Phra Nang Phaya Amulet.
The Phra Nang Phaya amulet has experienced many miraculous events, particularly in Phitsanulok. “Toh” recalls that he had just graduated and was riding his motorcycle to visit a monk he revered. The monk gave him a Phra Nang Phaya amulet as a blessing for his graduation. Afterward, he took leave from the monk and was heading home on his motorcycle. Being young and excited about the amulet, he drove faster than usual, wanting to show it off to his family. Unfortunately, he got into an accident, and his body was thrown from the motorcycle. However, a miraculous event occurred, as if a large hand had caught him, and he wasn’t seriously harmed, only suffering minor wounds, though the motorcycle was severely damaged. He never forgot that incident, always believing that with the Phra Nang Phaya around his neck, every step he took would bring good luck and protection.
The Phra Nang Phaya from Wat Nang Phaya is a significant amulet with historical evidence of its creation and discovery since ancient times. Its beautiful Buddhist features, combined with its exceptional spiritual powers—such as charm, authority, fortune, protection, and invulnerability—have made it renowned. As a result, it is honored as one of the “Five Great Amulets” up to the present day.
The Phra Nang Phaya amulet is a triangular-shaped, gable-front design first discovered at Wat Nang Phaya in Phitsanulok. The amulet is renowned for its elegance, with a prominent face and slender, graceful arms. This has led to it being called “the Queen of Amulets,” which aligns with the legend of the creation of Wat Nang Phaya, which is closely connected to women.
